5 years ago, when giants like Google started expanding their innovative products range, web world was just transforming. Many social networking sites, hosting sites, blogs, photo sharing sites popped up like mushrooms. Today many of them extinct due to the heavy competition by majors like Google.

During last five years, evolution of web world to what it is today happened at a greater pace and in an extraordinary way. During the period much of the young talent pool is absorbed by the software companies at higher pay and fueled the process. In the initial days of serious social networking like orkut, hi5 and others, it was more of showcasing features which can attract users. Then slowly from theme oriented business to product orient business it has turned. At this point of time facebook entered the business to only add innovation to social networking.

After facebook entered the business, products were developed and hosted to attract investors while improving user activity. An unusual phenomenon 5 years ago. At that time more advertisements that day only means you are going to loose your users next day. A phenomenal change is brought through improved user experience, products and design.

Google, which is known for its talented mathematicians and engineers who can make Google "do a barrel roll", successfully created new benchmarks for web experience. Google search with dynamic search experience, Google books, Google Reader, Google Plus and many to count .... are at heights in terms of cleanliness in design and user experience and almost unmatchable by competitors.

W3C supported these advances with HTML5 and CSS3, where you can have simple dynamics to complex ones without the need of flash which was always heavy though an innovative one and served for many days.

We have to wait and see.. what would be the next innovative change that will engineer the future growth of web world!

This is a familiar image to every web user. Most of the times unable to make out why the CAPTCHA reloads in spite of correct entry!

Have you ever given a thought why should you fill two words to help a website protect from spam machines, Is single word protection so weak? Have you ever noticed why there is a difference in clarity of two words, one being so obvious and other very weird?

Answers to these question are available at the right bottom corner of the Captcha block. "Stop spam. Read books.". Unfortunately many of us are not familiar with the last two words.

Anyone with engineering background and invested efforts in making technical reports will appreciate this technology. It's OCR, technology that converts scanned images and PDF files to editable word documents. ABBYY fine reader is a good software of this kind.

Google started this campaign to digitize the old scanned documents which cannot be read by OCR and human intervention is required. Google does this for NY Times and Google books. you will be startled to know the fact that daily 200 million recaptchas are loaded. Even if one of two words is used for the purpose a rough estimate (assuming each book has 500 pages and 250 words a page) would make it 1600 books per day.

What irks me? The idea is that it is excessively marketed as a spam detector and websites keep on reloading though the words entered are correct. May be due to poor coding (I don't think so!) or deliberate act to increase the number of instances.

It's a Google product, hence it's always fishy!

Google is swallowing entire web world. It has become address for everything. Like It's Google with Twitters courtesy!

Again Google for data theft! Paypal and eBay file lawsuit against Google and 2 former employees alleging that they misappropriated trade secrets in the area of mobile payments and point-of-sale strategies.

Google has been coming out with umpteen new products. Many products like Google Books, gmail features, maps, Google earth Buzz have been controversial in data theft cases soon after their inception.

Google kept adding features to its search engine like realtime, music, dictionary, cinema etc., which involved results from a selected party to the users. Though informative and easy to use, this is swallowing smaller companies who rely on search engines for traffic. Today Google is also ready to show flight details at a search hit & no extra navigation. This kind of approach by Google gives a feel like, "It's Google with Twitters courtesy!".

When there is a feature of 'Starred' mails to flag important mails why do you need a special feature like 'Make it important'?

Google launched 'Mark as important' feature in Gmail. It was about two days back this feature popped up when logged in. It was shocking to see that Google gave a thought about what could be important and what can be made important for me :P.

When I opened my mail box after this feature is automatically turned on, I found emails from facebook, a few spam surveys, offers,contests emails are marked important for demonstration. The moment I changed my stance on these mails and prioritized a few other mails, Gmail marked incoming mails from these contacts as important & calls it Priority Inbox.
This could be a good feature when you have so much junk in your mail and would like to stay with the junk. But, I guess its better to unsubscribe or spam the unnecessary emails and get rid of yourselves form being an internet victim.
At this point of the time in Web World when data theft by Apple, Google are questioned this feature looks fishy. Google has been tracking the keywords in mails for its advertisements. This could be one move by Google to clearly influence advertisers by actually picking up important mails. As of now I don't find a great buzz on this feature but in case of data theft, this may be questioned.
It is as simple as a consumer survey with no remuneration. This is new feature in Google money making machine. I hope Google doesn't care about the login information retrieved by me at many 'forgot my password' instances. :)

Kenya has lost 10 wickets in 24 overs scoring 69.

Kenya, a team that is remembered for its performance in 2003 World Cup looks too weak to fight in this big game. It has lost its 7 wickets scoring just 63 runs in 21.3 overs against New Zealand. In no time the tail-end batsmen are back to the pavilion adding just 6 runs to the board.

New Zealand has been out of track for some time continuously losing the ODI's in the last season. Looks like they have decided to re-built the instinct required for the big encounters in the series. New Zealand's right arm medium pace bowler Bennett ruthlessly sank the Kenyan Team hardly giving any chance for recovery.

Nevertheless, a good cricket from Kenya is still expected during the second innings. The bowlers are expected to play passionately and post a challenge to the thrashing batsmen like J Ryder and Guptill of New Zealand.

After a high scoring match yesterday between India and Bangladesh, India scoring a massive 370 in 50 Overs and Bangladesh posting a decent figure of 285 on board; in contrast this match is a low scoring match.

ICC has realized this parity between the weak nations and strong nations in the 50 over format and announced that only 10 teams will be playing the tournament from 2015.

Television industry is busy advertising their latest innovative LED TVs and 3D television. LED TVs and 3D TVs are supposed to be the most advanced ones giving the viewer a crystal clear clarity which he has never experienced before. These TVs come with a very high price.

It is interesting to note that these guys have a extravagant task of showing a LED TV clarity in CRT, which looks certainly impossible. Designing teams are trying their level best to slow down the motion, add light effects, pictures beyond the dimensions of the Television.

Interestingly most of the advertisements by various companies look alike giving one inline with their competitor. In every case the concept designer chooses a fast moving object and exaggerates the stuff by bringing the picture out of the Television with umpteen Photoshop effects added to it.

It is the toughest thing to accept that most of the TVs in India are connected through Cable which has little clarity in supporting these advertisement. It looks like a paradox if there is anyway to show the stuff at considerably good speeds and impress the audience. May be it's time to think out of the box in advertising such equipments through an unsupported media.

The fantasy is On - ICC World Cup 2011

With a few days left for the biggest cricketing event to kickoff likes of my generation have started picking up cricketers to play for their customized fantasy league. Starting this 19th, World Cup 2011 is going to be one of the biggest money games (only after IPL :)) officially and unofficially.

What makes this a different tournament altogether is the presence of many teams which otherwise you hardly get a chance to watch. May be one can call them 'Beginner Teams', which are going to drag some concentration with their novice cricketing culture.

How many do you think will practice cricket in Ireland watching Sachin Tendulkar or Brian Lara? I strongly believe that at least 7 out of 10 players grow watching their domestic legends. All my support for these guys who create their own brains.

Those teams which haven't traveled long journeys yet will be looking up for a turnaround to improve their current cricketing status (in terms of money & rating). Though there is a discouraging fixture composition for such teams, they ought to perform against odds to win the hearts of the world.

This season I will be looking on to O'Brien brothers of Ireland, C. Obuya & Tikolo of Kenya, John Davisonn of Canada (whom I remember had a big innings against WI in 2003 WC) and some new energy who are going to debut this season.

Political Corruption

World is trying to balance itself on an unstable fulcrum after Global melt down, a great recession, civil wars, currency wars, huge unemployment & deepening corruption. This season has had a great impact on political & market structures while scams being exploded.

India is seeing worst of its scams where huge money is siphoned through endless political scams. 2G spectrum scam where former Telecom minister A. Raja was alleged to have caused a huge loss to exchequer, Mining scams and land scams in Karnataka, where Karnataka Governor ordered for probe against CM Yeruduppa, Realty scam where large number of companies are involved, Black money cases etc.. The list is endless involving politicians of various designations.

It is a good sign that these scams are coming out (at least now) and there is a good response from the honorable courts in dealing these cases. In most of these cases honorable courts are ready to sack the criminal politicians. The Supreme Court of India has ordered government to setup a special court to deal 2G scam. In another instance the court awarded rigorous 1 year imprisonment to a former minister of Kerala.

Years after globalization people became vigilant about the economic reforms supposed to be implemented and now started questioning their governments. With so much of corruption rooted deep into the fundamental units of service the world will have to fight tougher to realize their rights and place.

PRP merger with Congress: Political Interlock

"PrajaRajyam party chief Mr. Chiranjeevi announced the merger of PRP with Congress party a day ago to strengthen the later. Mr. Chiranjeevi claims that the merger was supported by the fact that both the political parties strive for social justice. It has been announced by him that the deal was made without any conditions."

After watching so much of turmoil in the Andhra Pradesh state politics, this is no big surprise. Like every merger this is supposed to help both the parties. At the same time I realize that this has no fundamental reason which can really add value to the system.

Mergers are not new in AP politics. Since 1997 there have been lot many combinations were observed which did not stand long. All the mergers were aimed at destabilizing a particular party or a section of party.

Probably, many of them like me, really enjoy commenting on such issues, after watching a stage show of this kind where puppets join hands and try to hit others.. and in no time there is a change in game plan.. a kind of real time strategy game on a political stage. Finally, when all this is over they start realizing that the puppets have gone away with their money and we still stand there to see the next one.

The fundamental for establishing a political party is overlooked. When PRP as a political party was announced, they called it a replacement for the existing politics. But in no time they started lobbying for an alliance. A well designed, stable, performing system is built on fundamentals 'Why do we need?, What do we need?, Who are the stake holders?, and many whys, wheres and hows. The moment these fundamentals are forgotten and you are ready to date any political party, then it makes no sense why it has come up sometime back.

Any political party can really become successful if they concentrate of the fundamentals on which they are built and strive for social justice.

Do not commit political suicide!!!

It's always a pleasure to be connected to the networking cloud through instant messages. If you are a proud owner of a windows phone then it's a heavenly thing you have in your palm to make the most of it.

For sometime, there was a little support available for windows phones in terms of applications and software from Microsoft. Facebook application for windows mobile is the most recent successful application from Microsoft applications market.

However, there are many independent, enthusiastic geeks working on windows mobile to make it more handy and seamless in terms of applications. Xda-developers is a notable group which has fine mobile engineers who make windows platform complicatedly simple. There are few commercial groups which launched applications like wmTorrent, Palringo, SPB mobile, various emulators, to name a few.

Palringo is always a better choice when compared to it's counterparts like Fring or Nimbuzz which take comparatively more time to connect and exchange messages. Palring comes with really cool features like push to talk and push to exchange images which are very handy. If you have a short voice or picture message for your friend then it takes few seconds with the poorest of poor GPRS connection, believe it! I could send a voice message to facebook user too.. it was awesome doing that!
When your friends cloud is away from WWW, you can connect to Palringo groups where you find activity round the clock. It's simple and lite design is the X-factor for which it can be advertised. Really a cool application for free, Try it!

Beyond the boundary!

As a student is a very bad experience that you are asked to think 'beyond the boundary' or 'think out of the box', which is never explained!
Why is there a question of boundary if one can act beyond it? Why are we bothered about the things beyond our boundary?
Well, these questions are prevalent in articles like 'Speaking Tree' or 'Look Inside' or similar stuff where you try to learn that your are more confused than the levels you actually feel. That is the way learning goes! Looking back into the previous lines, gives an idea of boundary, which could be the time or energy limitation. It is just that you may not be able to execute it at the moment or a day ago but certainly you can cross it the next day. This vague idea may be boundary limited with the current mature levels of mine.. Something better has to be done tomorrow... That is the way life progresses in time boundary..
There are two kinds of subjects in this boundary limited world, art and science. Definitely, they are different in terms of ideology. Science needs a closed circuit to act. In order to close the boundary we generate 'assumptions', so called 'false certainity'. While, art has no such limitations. Anything that is different and new is acceptable in art. This is the half of the world moves accepting things which in real sense may be an illusion.. Not certain!
Marko Stout , a physician and artist presents a metaphor, 'The Cave' to show how we live with illusions. The Cave is a project to go beyond the human limitations of thinking. It shows how our scientific and engineering approach of life is resting inside a cave. Making predictions based on mere past data without the 'now factor' and ability of this methodology to give partially true outcomes is all life inside the cave. Can we think beyond this cave breaking the chains and illusions? Can the NYC artist show beyond this cave?
Well, so far we have been proactive in adopting the things which were outcomes as a chance. Can I move in the other direction by uncovering the ignorance, illusions and heading towards me?
May be I can do it tomorrow!

Blogging from mobile is not a new feat. It is just a matter of having a PDA or smartphone or an iPhone. Mobile companies releasing new phones every now and then to make them ergonomically more suitable for long handling times. Also the other side of the coin, network providers are switching themselves to more than a call providers. Data transfer from these miniature devices has become the tagline for these companies.
With the fast developing web application industry and exponentially improving hardware technology it is not a surprise today to share the pictures of your holiday spot, as good as live streaming.
After living with a smartphone for a considerable time I am ready to share few tips which might help you chose a new smartphone or upgrade a current one in the possible domain. Here it is..

1. Chose your hardware wisely. Your hardware should have a minimum of 128mb ram, 30 mb internal memory along with 128mb dedicated for rom. A 3.2 px cam with a 3x zoom at full resolution is recommended if you are a novice, frequent photographer. It's always advantageous to have an ergonomically designed keyboard along with touch screen. Go for a class 6 memory card for a faster data transfer, which will be done frequently (either you copy pics to Pc or music from the Pc). Having a great processor will make your smartphone graphics look flawless. But it comes at a price. A bare minimum of 201MHz is suggested.

2. Don't overlook software limitations. Millions of applications are available for Windows Mobile, iPhone, Android and Symbian. What suits you depends on your interest levels of digging the mobile. If you are a superficial user you may go for Symbian. If you are interested in applications which you keep upgrading frequently, then Android is for you. If you like to dig to the root levels (tweaking registry, having fun with shells) of Os, then Windows Mobile will suit you.

3. Software development for Android, WM, iPhone is big. Many volunteers keep pumping their stuff into the web world for the benefit of the group. Just keep pinging search engines for every latest limitation to crack it.

Remember, software upgradation is always cheaper than harware upgradation.

Robot: An Indigenous Business Product

It has been long time since I wrote a post on this blog. Lately, I have been associated with a different routine that keeps me away from blogging. I just got a PDA for myself so that I can access the blogger world from anywhere.

Yesterday was like a charge up before I reach the theater for 'Friday show' (It has become a custom to watch movies on Friday as soon as they release). We were on heels to catch up the latest action flick Robot, which was running 15 mins ahead of our schedule.

Many of my colleagues, who never been to a Rajini's movie are thrilled seeing Rajini at 100x and hundreds at one point of time. At the end of the day, I am satisfied and decided to share my views on Indian Sci-fi and its economics.

Lets get into the topic from technical aspects. Shankar (Director), is known for his blockbuster movies like Hindustani, Boys, Shivaji to note. Shankar took almost 2 years to make this movie which probably was rolling in his mind from many years. The project is valued around Rs.150 Cr. He casted Rajini and Aishwarya as lead roles while music direction is kept with the old friend AR Rahman. Probably this is the best combo and only combo where revenue can surpass the production cost with ease.

When I suggest you to watch this movie definitely I don't check the parity watching Transformers and Robot in the same theater paying same amount. I simply want you to take note of a new beginning in the Indian film industry. Let us look into the economics in a broader way. What made Shankar release movie in Hindi? He credits his previous movie 'Shivaji' which created buzz in Bollywood and created some space for him to play. Did Shankar put special effort and compromise on some issues to get it 'U' certified? Shivaji's revenu was close to Rs. 200 Cr. where the amount of investment is nearly half. Definitely, Shankar needs a bigger arena to get good return for his producers.

Reviews and opinions are rolling on social networking & debates going on to 'rate the movie if you don't consider it as a comedy genre stuff'. Most of the time spent in making this movie would have gone in post production which is done by Far East Asian artists sitting elsewhere. The technology used in this movie is new to Indians. We have to pay a premium to get this work done by outsourcing. Keeping budget in mind, they have restricted themselves to the depth of technology. Certain effects and transitions are not appealing. But, this should not limit me to appreciate the project. Sufficient depth in science is not visible, may be the director is unaware or might felt heavy for his audience. I simply say it is an Indian built sci-fi and indigenous business product.

A thrust of this kind is required for Indian Film Industry which usually invests in love dramas. More movies of this genre would make this Graphics Designing Technology to come home. After all India is huge market for any product, 0.1% coverage of entire population can make a hue money :)

Go! Watch it! It's 'U' certified, so you can safely take your kids.

The moment you hear the Independence Day Message given by Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh, you feel the difference what a learned man can make in his speech. For the past few years India is certainly fortunate to receive message on National Festivals from 'think tanks of nation' like A.P.J. Abdul Kalam or Manmohan Singh. He's the man who makes the difference!

How does it matter me as a citizen of this Nation? What is missing from others?

It's a practice of most of the citizen to check out the message delivered by President & Prime Minister on National Festivals. Thanks to the internet which makes it fast and easy. Every 'special day' Indian mightiness is recalled, nation supremos do a lip dig on Indian civilization, culture, freedom fighters, and many such things from archives. It's essential to recollect our roots, but how would that inspire the youth of this nation. All about our nation is told in schools, do we need a special emphasis on them?

How much emphasis does our leaders give on numbers? It's sad to see that more than 90% of our leaders work out things in phrases. They have ready made terms like 'many', 'large', 'growing', 'do that in future', and many.... We always see our nation as a developing and emerging nation because we really do not know where we are! We rarely comment on our deficiencies or short comings.

The nation has a deep respect for this Prime Minister who has the wisdom and capability to influence the youth of this country. The transition we are about to see in terms of infrastructure, economy, should be solid to challenge the leaders of the world. Dr. Mammohan invites his fellow citizen to be a stakeholder of the transformation.

It's no near future where you find knowledgeable leaders like Dr.Manmohan Singh at the root levels of this governing institution. India was guided by the dynamics of the uneducated, unemployed, poor cycle. Hardly, an initiative was taken to disturb this vicious cycle. Now, the Government of India brought Right to Education as a tool. Let's see how does this change the dynamics!

Let us hope the nation will prosper with another Green revolution, White revolution, infrastructure boom, up-gradation to productive manufacturing center, right to education can feed the hungry.

My Fellow Citizens,

On the eve of our 64th Independence Day, I extend my warmest greetings to all of you from all walks of life, living in India and overseas. I convey special greetings to the brave personnel of our Armed Forces and the Para-military forces who guard our frontiers and to our Central and State police, as well as our internal security forces. I also compliment every citizen of this country whose hard work, productive prowess and enterprising zeal have put India among the front ranks of the nations of the world. I convey my heartfelt condolences to all those who have lost their loved ones, suffered injuries and whose properties have been destroyed in the recent cloud burst in Leh.

Dear Citizens,

Every year, we celebrate our Independence Day with great fervour as well as joy and justifiably so, as it commemorates that day, when after many years of subjugation, our country gained its freedom. Indeed, in the annals of history, 15th of August 1947 will always be remembered as a day of an extraordinary accomplishment, of when India won its freedom with unparalleled fortitude and unique means. Under the leadership of Mahatma Gandhi, our movement for attaining freedom through Ahimsa and Satyagraha spread throughout the country, inspiring people in a manner rarely seen. Millions and millions of our men and women, willingly and enthusiastically responded to his call. They united to become an immense force that defeated the mightiest colonial power. Free India, was thus born.

As citizens of free India, we must reflect on the values and principles which were in the minds and hearts of those who fought and sacrificed for our freedom. They drew inspiration from the values nurtured in the country through millennia. Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru once described Gandhiji as, “embodying the old spirit of India, who held aloft the torch of freedom”. Gandhiji’s thoughts and his life were truly an expression of the philosophy of our ancient civilization in which peace and harmony, non-violence and truth, human dignity and compassion were given great prominence. We are at a historic phase when the world is shifting course. It is impacting our economy, polity, trade, commerce, education and pace of life. In this era of transformation, India definitely cannot lag behind. Our entire effort must be to ensure that there is overall development in which all people prosper. However, can our political approaches, economic progress and scientific advances be combined with values of human welfare, tolerance, mutual respect and selflessness propounded by learned men, leaders, philosophers and thinkers of our country? Our past and our future are linked. The future beckons us and the past guides us.

What has been our past? India, a mature and a harmonious society, had a rich tradition of learning and a philosophy based on experiences and knowledge of thousands of years. Swami Vivekananda spoke of India as, “the ancient land, where wisdom made its home before it went into any other country”. Ours is a land where religions have taken birth and all religions of the world have found a place. Ours is a land where different languages, cultures and customs flourished. So well known was India for its piety, scholarship and centres of study, that it attracted travellers from across the world. From early times, India always looked at progress and moral growth as mutually inclusive rather than mutually exclusive concepts. India’s depth of thought was matched by its material prosperity. Its fine goods, its spices, its silk, its cotton, were much sought after. India’s traders went to distant lands both to the East and the West, carrying with them not only goods from India, but also its reputation as a land of great culture and wealth.

We are the inheritors of this great civilization whose legacy has been passed on from generation to generation. We can be worthy heirs if we follow, in the true sense, the ideals of political, social and economic justice. Lip service will not do. We have to be ardent adherents. We are also duty-bound to pass on this rich inheritance to our younger generation - the 540 million youth. We place great hope on them and rightly so. They have been demonstrating their capabilities and strengths in various fields of human activity in India and abroad. Whether in multi-national business enterprises or the IT industry or financial organizations or global scientific bodies, young Indians are joining their ranks and making their mark. In sports, they have been bringing laurels to the country. Our youth are the architects of the nation’s future. We must educate them and inculcate in them a spirit of sacrifice, dedication, patriotism and service to the nation. This way, they would be ready to face the future with confidence and build on the achievements made so far.

Where does our country stand today? Our credentials as the world’s largest democracy have been further reinforced with the deepening of democracy at all levels. We have elected bodies existing from the national to the grassroot level. Democracy has given citizens the right to participate in the affairs of the nation. It has become a way of life in India. On the economic front, we are ranked as the world’s fourth largest economy based on purchasing power parity and one of the fastest growing. The resilience of our economy was evident during the global financial crisis which we weathered, better than many other countries. The future holds great potential and promise. However, many issues demand attention and the way we address them is important.

Foremost, among our tasks is to ensure the welfare of all. It is for this reason that India has adopted inclusive growth as a pillar of its economic edifice and is pro-actively pursuing it. Our task will be complete only when no one sleeps on a hungry stomach, when no one sleeps on the footpath and when every child is in school. Therefore, fittingly, education, capacity building, housing, healthcare and nutrition are a priority on the agenda of the Government. All of us should also pause to think how as responsible citizens, each one of us can contribute to Government efforts in these areas. It is a huge task to be achieved for a billion plus population, but we should not be overwhelmed. In every village and in every colony of every town, city or metropolis, people can come forward to form groups to work for the disadvantaged. Some amongst us may ask, what difference can these small efforts make? For them, I recall a story of a man walking down a beach, moments after a storm. He noticed a person ahead of him picking up starfish washed ashore and throwing them back into the sea. He asked the person how his efforts could make any difference, as the beach was long and there were lakhs of starfish washed ashore who would die. The person looked at the starfish in his hand and threw it into the water saying, "it makes a difference to this one". The message is clear - every effort, big or small, does make a difference.

Dear Citizens,

I believe that empowerment through education is important as it opens many doors of opportunity. The Right to Education Act has made free and compulsory primary education for children a fundamental right. It is important that secondary education is also universalized, as we seek to increase enrollment levels in higher education. This will provide the “brain power” for the nation. We are living in an age where innovation is shaping many areas of human activity. New technologies can enhance our agriculture and industrial productivity. Efficient technologies can facilitate the optimum utilization of capital, labour and resources. We have seen the impact of mobile telephone connectivity even in our villages. Innovation and invention were always given weightage as agents of change but perhaps never as high as now. The categorization of nations as rich and poor, developed and developing may well be overtaken by a new definition of those nations that innovate rapidly, as opposed to those which do so on a lower scale. To be in the forefront of cutting edge technologies, research and development in all fields must be encouraged and pursued in the country.

We must also speed up the construction of physical infrastructure. We need new roads, ports, airports, power projects as well as reinforcement of existing facilities. The augmentation will fill the infrastructural deficit that impedes overall economic growth and is, in many ways, out of sync with our image of an emerging global player.

Our industries must continue to grow. Indian companies should persist with efforts to be efficient and globally competitive. Some are already making their presence felt overseas. Our agriculture requires a fresh perspective, with new and radical ideas to steer it towards a second Green Revolution, so that agriculture production, productivity and profitability are increased. This is essential for our food security as well as price stabilization. At the same time, agriculture cannot be looked at in isolation. It needs to be connected with other sectors of the economy. Linking industry with agriculture would provide a basis for growth of industry in the rural areas and also promote agriculture business. Models of farming which give economies of scale, while protecting the interests of the farmer must be explored. Efficient distribution networks that link farmers with the consumers should be encouraged, so as to bring greater remuneration to farmers for their produce, while giving a price advantage to the consumer. Value addition on-site will generate employment and income opportunities for the local population. Support to the rural poor and farm labour through skill development, vocational training and social welfare programmes, must be a priority. The Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act is an important mechanism for providing livelihood. If specific local conditions are taken into account in its implementation and innovative approaches for convergence of various Government schemes encouraged, rural growth will be greatly enhanced. For example, agricultural productivity in rain fed areas can be increased with improved farm practices as well as conservation of soil and water, with the construction of farm ponds and village tanks and their proper upkeep and de-silting. Undertaking such activities in a coordinated manner can make a meaningful difference.

However, achievement of goals and targets is dependent on an effective governance structure. Powers have been given to those in Government for formulating policies and for implementation on the field. It should always be remembered that this power must be used in a responsible manner. Zero tolerance towards corruption and working with the highest standards of public service will definitely result in efficient governance systems and will have a multiplier effect on development and growth.

Dear Citizens,

We must be law abiding and also work for moral upliftment. I mention this because with an increasing emphasis on materialism, there is growing insensitivity towards each other. Strong family bonds are weakening. Social consciousness is on the decline. Some social evils persist. This must change. Today is the best opportunity when ground-breaking achievements alongwith a moral and ethical renaissance can take place. In this way, progress would be

anchored in values of compassion, tolerance and selfless service, which are important for making human life meaningful and purposeful. These values will make our multi-cultural, multi-religious, multi-lingual society more robust. They will also give us a strong base on which a stable structure of prosperity and progress can be raised. For example, as a kite surges high into the sky, it is affected by the breeze and the clouds. If the string is firm and skillfully handled, the kite will stay afloat, otherwise it can go adrift, be cut off, fall and be destroyed. The kite is much like our growth voyage with the string and the firmness with which it is handled, representing the ethical base. India is the abode of infinite values – let us strive to restore these as we go along the path of progress.

Tomorrow’s India will be constructed by the hard work of today. I call on all citizens to contribute to making the future of the nation, stronger and brighter. Let everyone understand their role and responsibility to achieve this. As I said earlier, every effort counts. Nation building demands the ability to work diligently and patiently, where the reward is the growth of the nation rather than personal promotion. It requires unity of purpose and the ability to focus on issues which unite. It requires a spirit of conciliation. This is possible when dialogue is chosen as the channel for communication. By listening to each other, respecting each other’s viewpoint and understanding one another, we can address issues before us. The proponents of extreme ideologies and the followers of Left Wing Extremism must abandon their path of violence. I call on them to join national efforts for growth and development. I hope that everybody, including the civil society will come forward and move them in this direction. Protracted development efforts will be needed in these areas.

India’s growth and progress will take place in an environment that is also influenced by global events. We believe that peace is essential, if prosperity is to be achieved. Terrorism poses the biggest threat to global peace, stability and security. To defeat it, all nations of the world must work collectively, so that terrorists have no sanctuaries, no training grounds, no access to financial resources, no infrastructural support, and no defenders of their ideology. Violence and hatred can have no place in the world. Indeed, the interests that we share as human beings are far more powerful than forces which are divisive. Across the world, the message of peace and not of destruction must spread, if this Century powered by the most rapid advances in science and technology, is to be the Century of the most spectacular gains made by humankind, accompanied with human values. I am confident that India will contribute substantially to the forward march of the human race.

The human spirit has a tremendous capacity to reach new horizons. With faith in ourselves, faith in our capacity to work together and faith in success, we will continue our journey. We have the talent, to create a great nation; and with our collective will and hard work we will do so. And as we progress and as our flag proudly flutters, like it will tomorrow on Independence Day, we can with pride cite the lines of a well known Indian poet,

'Business Transformation' is one of the most mumbled words these days. From the day of inception human beings are working on evolution, evolution into a better and powerful species. We started moving into the outer space to explore resources, other species, interesting things, and thought provoking technologies. Scientists started their work in exploring the possibilities to capture outer space. Scientists started warning about extinction of human beings if we fail to colonize other planets.

Idea of business transformation is a direct reflection of survival of the fittest. As a response to the core competency, change is expected and hence executed. Does the emerging nations are transforming nation?

This is the most relevant question for the emerging economies. How does the nations economic conditions are changing? Does it reflect any transformation? Can the government execute the transformation?

There is definitely a need for urgency. With rising competition in domestic and foreign land India should see a transformation for a stable economy. It is evident that there are some changes being done to the structure and policies from Indian government side. Govt. Oil industries are about to see a tough competition from private oil giants like RIL, Essar once the government announces its terms on price ceiling. Now that PSUs in power sector are also asked to compete with the private ones, there is a need for transformation. In this phase of management of change, Indian Govt. should frame fool proof laws to avoid any crash.

It is the most appropriate time to go for a transformation as huge money is flowing into the market. Identifying the gap in various sectors and updating to next generation practices is much needed for the moment. Hope, 'Business Transformation' remains to be part of every technical and non-technical congregation aimed at better India. Oil business is always an interesting stuff to study for its volatile nature and high potential in terms of economy. Anything can happen in Oil business, this can be realized by the BP issue or shut down of few American & European refineries. For some it's much more than Gold like Reliance Industries Ltd. who posted Rs.4851net profit in Q1.

British Petroleum is seeing their record level dip in commerce. BP appointed it's new CEO after the Mexican oil leak.So far BP spent $80 billion educating the world how serious a distaster in oil industry be!
Oil compaies under public sector are facing tough fight. Price celing on LPG, Kero costed them half a lakh crore so far and it is widening with ris in crude prices. Operating plants whose margins per barrel are hardly in cents is a huge burden to the nation. A single breakdown of the refinery would damage the margin figures.
Two new refineries are entering into the scene, one in Punjab by Mittal in collaboration with HPCl, other one in Bina by Arab investors with Bharat Petroleum. It has been atleast a decade when people started discussing on end of crude resources, but investors are quite comfortable inspite these discussions.
Moment coal can replace crude in economic sense, senario will change. Companies which are ready for transformation and working on the same will benifit. Ultimately, the one who processes cheaper inputs and adds the highest value will survive in the market.

Before I pump the criticism part of the story I would like to add some statistics about Indian mobile and networking Industry. In the past year the number of mobile handset purchases in India surged by 4.6% while the number of connections subscribed were doubled. This says that the sims issued were not the unique ones. Still, the statistics doesn't look promising.

How many sim cards do you expect an individual carries?

Well, this is one question which is easily answered by a school boy who posses a couple of sim cards (one personal for lathika living in next lane). Let us evaluate some reasons behind the multiple sim usage.

People who live in other states? Well, people like me do exist in lacs who has to live a considerable time in different state carry multiple sim cards.
Who desperately need privacy? Big-shots of many companies don't want to mess up their personal life with the office and hence use two.
The above two cases are genuine.
There are at least a million citizen in India who maintain multiple sim cards because they are cheaper that a plate idli or dosa. Many use different sim cards for outgoing calls, incoming calls, smses etc., Statistics published in a networking magazine indicated the surge in dual sim phone purchases in the last few months.

Risk & Nuisance . . .
The worst part besides these meaning less usages is using for anti-social activities. We don't dispose sims properly, buying a sim without proper verification details is possible and this poses a serious threat to the country. Lots of mischief is also possible from insane youth who stalk girls.
It's also irritating to go through 'my new number' messages. . .

Be conscious .. . .
Recent decision taken by Government of India to penalize the service providers for issuing sim cards without proper documents is an appreciable move. The amount was huge and for a short period of time and hence indicates a stronger action a head. Some of the network providers already started address verification and others yet to! Let us see a better India!

It's true!! It has been long time since there's a good movie in Bollywood. The recent release 'Phoonk 2' by RGV isn't up to the mark. The movie didn't even reach 20% of the expectations in terms of openings. It looks like nobody is interested in RGV's 5 Lac bucks. Yesterday was probably the worst day of IPL3 for Chennai Super Kings. They could only manage to get 112 losing 10 wickets. It was a perfect spin track and Delhi Dare Devils worked it out properly. Dhoni is now missing tint provided by part time spinners. Critics argue on not picking Muralitharan. But domestic spinners proved reliable. I think Dhoni's selection criteria is impeccable.

In fact, Delhi is also on the worst side. It looks like they do not do much talking in the dressing room. Gambhir was embarrassed by looking at the top order approach. There weren't many fours and sixes in the match. Only one six is inside out hit by Bollinger. Still, it entertained me with its catches. Both the teams had some phenomenal catches. Collingwood (DD), Vijay (CSK), Mathew Hayden (CSK) proved themselves as the best. Hayden's catch was stunning.

Have you seen yesterday's thriller? Well, that is a real T20. Everyone got a turn to say something. A typical T20 match, which keeps you shouting, fighting & dumb at moments. Here are the match details:

Match: Deccan Chargers Vs Royal Challengers Bangalore
Venue: Nagpur (Deccan Chargers Home)
Date: 12 April, 2010
Score: DC - 151/6 (20 Ov.) | RCB - 138/10 (19.4 Ov.)
Result: DC won by 13 runs.
Man of the match: Harmeet Singh (Deccan Chargers)

Except the fact that Deccan lost 3 early wickets, they were up to the mark. It was really embarrassing to see Gilly walking out after the very first ball. Steyn took Suman very tactically. Gibbs couldn't understand the pace of Steyn. It's Monish Mishra who did his job along with Rohit Sharma to put fast runs on the board before falling for a reckless act. His runout made the difference. Nevertheless, Rohit continued and DC could see 150 mark.

RCB batted really well. Dravid's innings was superb. His aggressive batting let DC lovers a bit down. The worst part on RCB side is J. Kallis. He's wearing orange cap with poor strike rate at the cost of RCB's win. At least 15 balls were saved when they got Kallis out. Uttappa tried to blaze but there wasn't enough support on the other end. Harmeet bowles excellent slow balls and confirmed a win for Deccan.

What Kallis is to learn is maintaining at least strike rate of 120 before he blazes. His average is not a winning point for the team. Will Deccan go for Gibbs again?

We'll have to wait for the next thriller against Kings XI Punjab.

Producers are yet to decide the lead actress roles while Pawan Kalyan & Vijay are going to act in Telugu & Tamil respectively.

Vijay, top rated Tamil actor popular for his remake releases. Most of his films being remade from other languages mainly Telugu. He is an apt for this remake too. ;)) Producers are ready to invest huge money into this project for its known success in Hindi. They approached Katrina Kaif for the lead role. At last it's Deccan on winning side! I was really embarrassed to see 5 L's against Deccan Form Guide in the Cricinfo Match Preview. Finally, the team got a chance to revive their statistics.

Match against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB):

Time: 8:00 Pm Local

Venue: Chidambaram Stadium, Bangalore

RCB (184/6 in 20 Ov) & Deccan Chargers (186/3 in 19.2 Ov)

Facts: Purple cap for P. Ojha (DC), Orange cap remains with J. Kallis, T. Suman (DC) maiden IPL 50, V. Kohli first fifty in the tournament, M. Marsh debut for DC.

Thriller ended like this:

It was a real thriller. And, Deccan grabbed the game towards the end of the match. Ryan Harris, P Ojha & Symonds put great pressure on RCB till 12 Overs and it was totally under their control. As usual following the form guide they bowled poor death overs and conceded more than double the previous over run rate. It was a poor start for Deccan while batting, Monish lost his wicket. Then T. Suman & Symonds finished the game aggressively hitting Kumble, P. Kumar & Vinay.

What made the difference:

Every team winning this season have good numbers from domestic players. Deccan was the only team lacking domestic explosion. As I pointed last time, there is necessity for explosive batting from domestic players. Monish tried to do it but failed. Nevertheless, Suman rocked to win a vital innings. Gilly feels that the team is 90% OK, lets hope that they will be better in the next match. The team composition is probably the best of all combination. Mitchell, though didn't not excel in bowling, is good with the ball trying to bowl bouncers, good length and aiming leg stump at

Chances for Semi's:
Can it do it again? Well, Deccan's record this tournament shows some interesting facts. Counting the chances Deccan has chance. Forthcoming matches are against those teams which lost to Deccan early in the tournament. Whatever it did, did it twice. So, there is a chance to beat all the four teams! ;)

David Warner is becoming more and more crucial for Delhi DareDevils. His explosive batting is helping them to see high scores on the board. While the prior one is successful, the latter missed by a slight rope touch.

Deccan Chargers is SICK | IPL 3 - 2010

Well, IPL-3 is really mind blowing. Most of the teams are really doing good. There are players who scored tonnes of runs with hardly any failure. 'Out of the park' & 'Deft' are the most common compliments acknowledging their ability to hit the ball hard while retaining their classic game. Most of the bowlers must be unhappy with shorter boundaries and mongoose bats. It's true the game is growing big, but certainly would saturate earlier than what Mr. Modi is expecting.

The defending champions - Deccan Chargers are under performing for the last few matches. In spite of a good start, they couldn't manage to cope up with the race.

What's wrong with the Chargers?

'All is not Well' definitely! Gilchrist has been repeatedly announcing the 'inconsistency' in presentation ceremonies. Batting line-up is not reliable, bowling department is highly inconsistent, no enthusiasm while fielding. Well, it's becoming very difficult to trace out a positive feature.

It is certain that DC is unable to chase the average score of IPL-3. While chasing they look tired and impatient. The team is completely dependent of Gilchrist's opening. Every idiot watching IPL knows this fact and checking the skipper by spinning. Glilly is tired! I don't think we'll see him in the next season.

The team lacks an explosive batsman who can dominate the bowlers. Domestic batsmen don't even score half a tonne runs. Domestic batsmen must be given chance to open the innings with Gilchrist. Monish Mishra, Venu Gopal, must play firing game. VVS Laxman should be brought down to lower middle order depending on situation. The ace batsman is not confident in his very very special drives. He's trying new things and increasing tension in the rest of the batting order. The foreign bowler slot is disturbed. Vaas was really good with the ball. He swung the ball well to dismiss the top order. Probably he's the reason for three early wins. His remarks on death overs are not correct. Neither Harris nor Roach could stop the runs using the additional pace.

Hope Deccan will get a chance to bat first in the forthcoming matches. Though they are not goal setters they can do much better than what they did by chasing. It's really interesting to think about the team that could lose to Deccan Chargers. Well, they aren't hopeless! They just need revival!

Right to Education | Much Needed Move

Happy to see the most awaited amendment of Indian Constitution. Indian constitution has been amended more than a tonne time since its formulation. Prime Minister of India, Dr. Manmohan Singh says, "It was a desire of Gopal Krishna Gokhale about 100 years ago when he had urged the Imperial Assembly to confer on the Indian people the Right to Education, and about 90 years later the Constitution was amended to enshrine the Right to Education as a fundamental right."

It is to be understood that it makes no difference until there is a strong support from the community. With the caste system still prevailing in many places and female child not cared & people living in remote areas, who doesn't have access to society. . . it is the duty of every citizen to facilitate the enforcement of cause.

Make it Open Source

The education being provided at primary level is not formatted to the present generation and is not par with many private institutions. It is time to develop a open source repository. A initiative to take up the open source project would facilitate easy and free availability of books. Seeking the help from students pursuing higher education to contribute 5 articles each would start a new era.

Approve Foreign University Proposal

With improvement in opportunities for higher education there would shift the literacy rate on higher side. The should work as simple as a suction device. When we cannot fund new institutions and improve the standards of teaching it is better to invite foreign institutes. This would in turn increase the standards of indigenous institutions which are currently suffering from low professor-student ratio and poor quality of education.

These are some of the things lingering in mind at the moment. Definitely, there would be hundred more interesting plans which could drive this movement better.

Lay's - SHARE pack | hardly anything to share

After a long time I bought a Lay's share pack (usually I avoid junk food). The brand new pack with bright green color and attractive packing is really luring. The Rs.20 pack is colorfully tagged as "SHARE PACK", which hardly carries 70 g of chips. The flavor I purchased is American Style Cream & Onion, which is not so great with onion mix but the texture and greenish appearance is cool. After all I need the taste.

Haldiram's a leading bhujiawala company in India released chips last summer in two flavors. As an introductory price it's sold at Rs.10. Each pack carries 80 g of chips. Salted chips are really great.

I think Lay's meant to share the price rather than chips. [:(]

It's hard to image life of an engineer without a PI. We would have been using some flexible sticks to evaluate perimeter of a circle. Well, it really looks impossible for me. There being only one variable for a circle would have pinched the minds of mathematicians. Euler made it popular for the world and supporting the technology which revolves around spherical and circular objects.

I remember attending special lectures on memory, learning & peg words. Expert used to guide us to visualize formulas through images or creating a story. He called PI a cylinder, ( ) a women jacket, [ ] will be a male jacket - we would use this terminology to create a story for each formula. It was a nice experience to understand the process of memorizing things.

What an amazing color profile? Hardly I could see a color in his collection just giving a look of brush. A perfect combination of no color, darkness and a little orange. This is what I exclaimed after seeing the collection as a novice graphic designer.

Black & White could be the best color combination (of course I say it is a combination of no colors) ever if managed properly. Quite a decent cut to drag the attraction and giving a very professional look. Designs by Giorgio Armani are always like a brownie with vanilla on it & garnished with chocolate sauce. Very Very Impressive!

Google Earth and Maps are now made more interesting and useful with its new street view. Google incorporated 3D images of streets where you can literally see the people, cars on street. This view is available is not available in all countries. The resolution of the images is very high to read a sign board or see the car model. In places where this facility is not available they have provided user added photographs which give brief about the location.
They have take sufficient security measures and blurred things like car number plate, human faces, etc. Advanced navigation is available for rotation, moving ahead along road, changing perspective of building etc. Overall its a great value addition.
Try searching a street in Rome or Paris, you will enjoy!

OMG! None of my friends can flirt

Oops! I thought I was the only one quoting this reason and covering myself. . . Many of my friends are doing the same.

When ever I speak to school friends we arrive at Love, Girl Friends in less than 5 mins of chat (Well! this is the only interesting and universally common topic). Surprisingly most of them are perfectly single with 'ZERO' relations. I don't think they aren't interested in girls (if that is the case why do they bring up this topic). They say they aren't bold enough to speak to a girl or propose. Everyone feels that their schooling in Boys School made them coward & weak in working out women.

I was quoting the same reason of schooling for the past four years. Now, this is creating a doubt. Can't my friends flirt?

I can't disprove this theory because of poor experience in this issue. But, tried to create a comic on this (sorry for my '0' humor & poor narration).

NY Fashion Week - 2010

New York Fashion Week is going great with skinny models draped in superb cuts. It was sad to hear McQueen's death on the day 1. The ready-to-wear collection showcased by top designers are great inspired by impeccable trends.

I picked up four designs which impressed me a lot. The color sense and depth is perfect in all the four.

What an elegant piece! Nothing weird about the design. A perfect cut by Max Azria. Love it!

Another one from BCBG Max Azria collection. A replenished style, probably two decades old. The neutral colors make it good with belt and scarf.

This is from Charlotte Ranson ready-to-wear collection. This cut is not new, I don't this is Ranson's master piece but impressed me with the color palette. The vertical stripes on the trouser make it more powerful and exaggerate the glossy look.

This is from Cushnie Et Ochs collection. The tight fit clothing with decent embroidery & metallic color adding life to it, imparted fish like, skinny look. The neck cut and stripes on lower half are impressive.

How is my amateur analysis of fashion? Does it appear silly? Let me know in comments how bad I am. Let me improve!

Recorded on February 1st, 2010, in the same studio as the original 25 years earlier (Henson Recording Studios, formerly A&M Recording Studios) "We Are The World 25 For Haiti", in which Jones and Richie serve as executive producers and producers, was created in collaboration with executive producers Wyclef Jean, Randy Phillips and Peter Tortorici; producers Humberto Gattica and RedOne; and co-producers Rickey Minor, Mervyn Warren and Patti Austin to benefit the Haitian earthquake relief efforts and the rebuilding of Haiti.

Academy Award-winning writer-director Paul Haggis (Crash, Million Dollar Baby), whose own personal efforts as well as those of Artists for Peace and Justice have already saved countless lives in Haiti, filmed the private recording session to create the accompanying video and behind-the-scenes production, and serves as Film Director and as an Executive Producer with Jones, Richie, Jean, Phillips and Tortorici.

The 25th Anniversary recording features over 80 artists and performers. The recording of We Are The World 25 For Haiti embodied the same enthusiasm, sense of purpose and generosity as the original recording 25 years ago. Every one of the artists who participated, regardless of genre or generation, walked into the room with their hearts and souls completely open to coming together to help the people of Haiti.

India's win over Pakistan in 2003 Cricket World Cup

What an innings by Indian Batsmen! All praise for the Little Master and the then skipper Ganguly. A local Telugu news paper published the winning news with the title 'ఇండియాకి శివరాత్రి, పాకిస్తాన్ కి కాళఃరాత్రి' which means 'Maha Shiv Ratri for Indians and a Dreadful night for Pakistanis'. It made a perfect sense and a terrific title that's never forgotten.

Summer 2009

I had a chance to pay a visit to Shiv Temples in Gujarat last summer. Quite pleasant journey it was. Sleeping in the temple street, 'aarti' - prayer never seen before, calm sea is lingering around me. In the same season, visiting Rajkot temples and Srisailam is a reminiscence.
